Product Data Sheet
Background: Leptin
Leptin (anti-obesity protein) is a protein product of the mouse ob (obesity) gene and appears to be involved in appetite control. The ob gene is expressed in adipose tissue and is believed to regulate fat storage in the human body. Mice with ob/ob genotype also develop a form of diabetes similar to type II (non-insulin-dependent) diabetes. Mouse leptin is a 16 kDa protein containing 147 amino acid residues.
